Deep Space

How often have you wondered what lies beyond the boundaries of our earth and into the deep space? It is a question that has enthralled humanity for ages. Today with the advancement of science we have been able unfold some mysteries about the deep space while countless others still remain to be discovered.

Deep space technically refers to the areas beyond the gravitational sphere of influence of the earth and covering near endless regions of intergalactic space. Deep space is also termed as outer space as it falls beyond the influence of the celestial bodies. Outer space was previously considered to be a vacuum but the recent researches have shown that outer space is only partially vacuum. It consists of low density particles like hydrogen plasma and electromagnetic radiation, a dark matter and dark energy. There is no clear boundary between the Earth's atmosphere and the outer space. This is so because there is a gradual decrease in the density of the atmosphere with an increase in the altitude. In order to tide over this issue, the Karman line has been established as the working line between the aeronautic and astronautic functioning though some debate still exists over it. This line has been set up at an altitude of 100 kms. The line has been established by the Federation of Aeronautics. The deep space that lies within our solar system is termed as interplanetary space which passes over into interstellar space or helipause. The vacuum in the outer space is filled with several organic molecules that have been discovered by microwave spectroscopy. This vacuum is also covered by gases like plasma and other meteors that have been left behind by some manned or unmanned spacecraft.

Air is absent in the outer space. This makes space an ideal ground for astronomy at all wavelengths of electro magnetic spectrum. There are many artificial satellites that are orbiting the Earth. They are geosynchronous communication satellites above mean sea level at the equator. These satellites provide Global Positioning System or GPS that is relevant both for civil and military uses. The main regions that are associated with the outer space are: coplanar space, interplanetary space, intersteller medium and intergalactic space. Cislunar space is the volume within the moon's orbit. In Latin, the term means on this side of the moon and not beyond the moon.

The deep space or the outer space is a very mysterious topic to deal with. Scientists are working day and night to solve various mysteries that are associated with the world. Various technologies are being discovered so that the hidden truth of the other side of the world can be brought to the forefront. The result of these discoveries can be proved through the recent example of Pluto being removed from the list of the nine planets. Now we know only eight planets that enjoy the pleasure of being a part of the solar system.

With the passage of time and modernization, human brain is improving and its eagerness to learn more and solve various hidden truth about outer space is also developing. Man has proved to the world that knowledge is indefinite so one should keep learning and discovering. Inventions and technologies are a part of this process. And as long as man has this attitude to solve these wonders, the journey into space and its discovery will continue. This spectacular odyssey into space is destined to bring all that has been hiding behind the wonders and mysteries of space.
